Pastor James R. Banks II is an educator, consultant, lecturer, teacher, preacher and revivalist. He was called into the Gospel Ministry in 1971. He has been Pastoring the Faith Baptist Church in Buffalo, New York for 38 years. Pastor Banks holds a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Divinity and Divinity Studies from Tennessee and Indiana respectively.
God has blessed the Household of faith to liquidate the $110,000.00 mortgage in 1985 four years into his tenure as Pastor.
Three Church vans, a garage and a parking lot were made available to the membership after the purchase of the adjacent properties to the Church building and the former parsonage turned Faith Baptist Church Nursery. The Church has new office equipment, kitchen has been renovated, complete renovation of the lower auditorium complete with sound system and video projector, Central-Air and an elevator has been installed.
Church Auxiliaries were re-organized to Ministries, with a concerted focus “to serve this present age, our calling to fulfill.” A Tithe Ministry was organized to distribute financial aid to different community organizations. Faith learned to Tithe off the Tithe.
The Mitchell-Cofield Scholarship Ministry Fund was re-organized. Currently we are able by God’s help to invest in our children attending colleges and universities at an increased monetary gift.
The Church leased space to the Community Action Organization of Erie County, Inc. (CAO), Classrooms Head Start Program in our Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Annex. Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth rented space to provide Supplemental education Services to elementary school children in the community.
The Urban League of Buffalo and Erie and County initiated its first Adoption Program in our Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center Annex. The Church now leases space to the St. John Christian Academy and Project Gift.
Pastor Banks gifts have opened doors for him to serve as a teacher and Lecturer for the Great Lakes Baptist District Congress of Christian Education; Western District Baptist Association, Empire Baptist Congress of Christian Education. Faculty Facilitator of the Sunday School Publishing Board of the NBC, INC. – December Conference, 2014 – Present and the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education as well as various Leadership Schools and District Congress.
Pastor Banks has served in Leadership as Vice Moderator at Large for Great Lakes Baptist Association, Past General Secretary and Vice President of Empire State Convention and President of Baptist Ministers Conference of Buffalo and Vicinity. Past Sr. Chaplain Of New York State Wende Correctional Facility. Served as First Vice President of the Great Lakes District Congress of Christian Education and as First Vice President of the Empire Congress of Christian Education. Currently, serves as President of the Empire Congress of Christian Education.
Pastor Banks is marred to the former Judy C. Shaw for over forty-three years. They have three daughters, Bekesica K. (Quinton), Janine R. (Robert) and Jamye R. and six grandchildren, Jamesia, Imara, Aliyah, Nia, Jayden, and Azaria.
Pastor James R Banks II serves to glorify God, edify His people and to influence the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Praise God for allowing us to have an successful Congress. I am truly Thankful to God for the delegates, teachers, Congress staff and Congress Officers who worked diligently and gave untiring support.
Thank God for the leadership and support from our Convention President, Dr. Carl L. Washington Jr and his officers and staff.
As we look ahead to 2020, with God's help we will increase delegates and have Classes both day and evening that will help us to live in this unfriendly world, as God's disciples.
Please continue to pray for our growth and strength in HIM! We need every Sunday School Student, Teachers, Christian Education Directors, and Pastors to start looking forward to our 2020 Retreat on February 16-17, 2020 in Saratoga Springs, NY and our Annual Session on April 13-17, 2020 in Albany NY.
